MWIA Educational Programme – Visit to IOI Palm Wood in Segamat
On the 15th August, a delegation of 23 MWIA members led by MWIA President Mr. Ng Kay Yip has paid a visit to IOI Palm Wood Sdn Bhd in Segamat, Johor. The objective of this visit is to expose the members to the knowledge of new material for wood panel derived from oil palm trunk. OnCore®, the brand of the OPT products are claimed to be environmentally sustainable in terms of utilizing natural resources which previously were considered waste. The concept of the products, production flow as well as the challenges faced during manufacturing processes was introduced by the CEO of IOI Palm Wood, Mr Peter Fitch. Currently the products including thermally modified palm lumber, blockboards and engineered palm wood panels are produced; the company will be introducing thermally modified OPT Glulam, CLT and acoustic panels in the near future.
